Project Schedule
We recognize that citizens will have many questions and concerns about this project, and we will attempt to provide information as it becomes available. As of June 2019, the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers' Nationwide Permit for the Mountain Valley Pipeline (MVP) project is suspended. The permit allows the project to cross streams and wetlands. Activity in Roanoke County is minimal. We anticipate that this will continue through the winter.
Based on legal filings and conversations with company representatives, this is what we know of the construction stages/crew schedules:
- Tree felling
- Erosion and sediment controls
- Tree processing
- Segregating the topsoil
- Grading
- Building the Right-of-Way
- Trenching
- Stringing (trucks delivering the pipes)
- Bending
- Welding (automated)
- Coating
- Lowering (placing in trench)
- Backfill
- Restoration
Please refer to the Mountain Valley Pipeline website for the most up to date information about construction progress.
