Clerk’s Office Operations
Effective Tuesday, March 24, 2020, and until further notice, due to the rapid spread of the Novel Coronavirus (COVID-19), the Roanoke County Circuit Court Clerk’s Office will be handling all functions only by appointment and/or based on legal need during our regular weekday hours of 8:30 AM – 4:30 PM.
During those times, for questions and to make appointments, you may call specific divisions on their direct telephone numbers as follows:

Criminal; 387.6213, -6261 (Jury Duty) Real Estate; 387.6208, -6211

During these challenging and difficult times - and in order to help prevent the further spread of COVID-19 - we strongly encourage the use of our online services, email, postal mail and fax (387.6145) to accomplish various tasks as explained below, including but not limited to the following as examples, and subject to change:
CWP renewals/changes-postal mail only, new applications by appointment (387.6206)
Secure Remote Access (SRA) and Simplifile for real estate title work
Officers of the Court Remote Access (OCRA) and
Virginia Judicial Electronic Filing System (VJEFS) for case work
Virginia Judicial Online Payment System (VJOPS) for criminal payments

Effective 3/18/2020:
We will be making the following changes:
- The Clerks office will remain open to process filings and recordings as usual however, we are encouraging the public to take advantage of our online services which include:
- Secure Remote Access (SRA) – Until further notice we are suspending the initial three-month obligation required and allowing for monthly subscriptions with the reduced fee schedule as follows:
- One year $500.00
- 6 months $250.00
- 3 months $125.00
- 1 month $50.00
- Office of the Court Remote Access (OCRA)
- One year $120.00
- Six months $60.00
- Virginia Judicial Electronic Filing System (VJEFS) (Civil cases)
- Virginia Judiciary Online Payment System (VJOPS)
- Secure Remote Access (SRA) – Until further notice we are suspending the initial three-month obligation required and allowing for monthly subscriptions with the reduced fee schedule as follows:
- We will still process the following in-person:
- Marriage licenses
- Marriage rites
- Notaries
- Concealed handgun permits
- Name changes
- Other civil filings
- We will continue accepting all fees, fines, penalties and restitution payments in criminal cases, but we encourage them to be paid online or by check via regular mail.
- The record room and recording desk will remain open although we encourage the use of e-recording through Simplifile, the US mail, Fed-Ex, UPS and DHL.
- Attorneys and their staff are encouraged to use the Virginia Judicial Electronic Filing System (VJEFS) to file Civil documents.
- Attorneys and their staff are encouraged to use Officer of the Court Remote Access (OCRA) for copies of non-sealed civil and criminal court records.If you would like to request a change to your scheduled hearing, please consult with your attorney. If you do not have an attorney or if you are an attorney who wishes to request such a change, please contact the Judge’s office.
- Due to the current State of Emergency declared by the Governor concerning the Corona virus (COVID-19), please contact the probate office for alternative methods that may be available to record a will. 540-387-6206
- If you have a scheduled appointment or a court case/hearing in the Circuit Court Clerk’s Office, please call ahead if you have been exposed to COVID-19 or are not feeling well so that they can be rescheduled. 540-387-6205.
