Roanoke County Celebrates the Oak Grove Park Improvements and Arbor DayRoanoke County celebrated the new Oak Grove Park improvements with a ribbon cutting and Arbor Day celebration on April 27! Oak Grove Park's improvements include a new playground, pickleball court, restrooms, picnic shelter, expanded parking, asphalt trail enhancements and a new environmental education trail. Oak Grove Elementary School's After School for Kids students, Virginia Department of Forestry and Smokey the Bear helped observe the 151st anniversary of National Arbor Day. Roanoke County was selected as a Tree City USA by the Arbor Day Foundation for a 25th consecutive year. Four new shade trees were planted at Oak Grove Park with the grant funding.
