[ARCHIVED] Roanoke County Marks 10th Straight Year on Digital County Top Ten List

ROANOKE COUNTY, VA (August 5, 2013) - Roanoke County has once again ranked as one of the top ten digital communities in a national survey by the Center for Digital Government and the National Association of Counties.

Each year the Digital Counties Survey examines how counties across the nation use technology to better provide services to residents. The survey rankings are released by population, and Roanoke County routinely competes in the 150,000 population or less category. This latest survey places Roanoke County at number five, ahead of Napa County, California, Martin County, Florida, and nearby Franklin County, Virginia.

"This marks the tenth year Roanoke County has been ranked five or higher nationally when compared to Counties of similar populations," said Roanoke County Communications and Information Technology Director Bill Hunter. "This is not just an 'information technology' award but recognition of the efforts by all County departments to improve the delivery of citizen services through technology and innovation."
