[ARCHIVED] Commonwealth Transportation Board Meeting in Roanoke

RICHMOND, VA - Virginia residents are invited to attend public meetings to be held across the state this fall to learn more about transportation improvements funded in the Six-Year Improvement Program (SYIP). The program allocates funding to a wide range of projects, including road, bridges, sidewalks, bike paths, rail and transit improvements across the state.

The Commonwealth Transportation Board (CTB) is visiting localities throughout Virginia to share information and listen to what residents think about transportation projects. The current program (FY 2015-2020) is being adjusted to transition to a new prioritization process. This process will determine critical transportation priorities through a fair and objective analysis. Following the public comment period, the final revised program will be presented to the CTB for its adoption in November.

Comments are also encouraged on projects and programs to be considered for the next fiscal year’s version (FY 2016-2021) of SYIP, which will be updated for the CTB’s approval next June. Meeting materials will be available at

beginning Sept. 23.

There will be nine meetings held around the state during September and October. The meetings begin Tuesday, Sept. 23, in the state’s nine transportation districts. See list below for dates and locations.

Meeting schedule at each location:

· 5 p.m. – Local officials briefing

· 5:30 p.m. – Open house displays and general discussion

· 6:30 p.m. – Moderated public meeting
