[ARCHIVED] House fire caused by soldering

Firefighters had to use about 2000 feet of fire hose to connect to a hydrant. Crews had the flames under control in about 30 minutes. There is fire damaged to the bathroom where the fire started and the attic and roof. There is also water and smoke damage throughout the rest of the house. Damage estimates are $100,000. No one was displaced since no one was living in the home.

Roanoke County Fire & Rescue crews were dispatched at about 7:15 this evening for a reported structure fire in the 2200 block of East Ruritan Road. This is in the Read Mountain are of Roanoke County.

When firefighters from the Read Mountain and Vinton stations, along with crews from Botetourt County and Roanoke City arrived, they reported a one and a half story house with flames coming from the roof.

Reportedly, there was no one living in this home, however there was work being completed inside the house.

No injuries have been reported.

Fire investigators are on scene.
