SALEM – Work to run fiber optics cables will cause nighttime ramp closures on the evening of Thursday, July 16 and early morning of Friday, July 17 at Interstate 81’s exit 150 (Troutville) in Botetourt County.
The ramp at southbound exit 150A and the ramps at northbound and southbound exit 150B will be closed for approximately two hours. The ramp closures will occur sometime between 11:59 p.m. on July 16 and 5 a.m. on July 17 to string cables across traffic lanes at two separate locations. State Police will be controlling traffic during the closures.
The fiber optic cables are being put into place by a utility company ahead of work on the construction project to improve traffic flow around exit 150.
Message boards and signs will be in place to alert drivers to the nighttime ramp closures. Drivers can access the area at exit 150 using Route 11 from exits 146 and 156 and should plan their travel accordingly. Work will be completed by 5 a.m.
