As part of the Interstate 581 and Elm Avenue interchange project in Roanoke, lane and ramp closures will be in place next week as they continue to finalize the work on the project.
On Sunday, August 16, from 10 p.m. in the evening to 2 a.m. the following morning, rolling closures will take place on I-581 northbound and southbound to install pavement markers. There will be temporary stoppages on Elm Avenue eastbound and westbound for pavement markings.
On Monday, August 17 and Tuesday, August 18, from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., the southbound off ramp onto I-581 will be narrowed for drainage work.
On Wednesday, August 19 through Saturday, August 22, there will be intermittent closures on Elm Avenue and ramps to I-581 for signage and signal cable installation from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
This work is weather permitting. Drivers are encouraged to watch for signs and message boards and to use caution as they travel through the work zone.
