Robbery Challenger Suspect

UPDATE (February 19, 5:00 PM) The suspect was identified through the assistance of local citizens. Roanoke County Officers were able to conduct a traffic stop on the suspect and take him into custody at approximately 3:00 this afternoon in the 6500 block of Thirlane Rd. The suspect has been identified as Raphael C. Sierra, 20, of Roanoke. He has been charged with Robbery (18.2-58) and Use of a firearm in Commission of a Felony (18.2-53.1). Police thank the public for their assistance in sharing the information and photos which helped lead to his arrest.

On Wednesday, February 19, 2020 at approximately 9:48 am, Roanoke County Police Officers responded to the 3700 block of Challenger Ave. in Roanoke County in reference to an armed robbery. Information was received that a black male, entered the store and demanded an undetermined amount of money from the clerk. A weapon was displayed before the suspect fled on foot from the location.

Police are actively searching for the suspect who is described as a black male wearing a hoodie. It was originally reported that he is wearing a green hoodie but it appears to be more grey. Several photos have been attached to this release. Police seek the public’s assistance in identifying the suspect.
