(Roanoke County, VA – April 10, 2020) A vehicle driven by Frederick Carter, 60, of Thaxton, struck Sean McCarthy, 34, of Salem in the 4100 block of Electric Rd in Roanoke County. Mr. McCarthy was partially in the roadway and wearing dark clothing. Mr. Carter’s view was obstructed by objects hanging from his rear view mirror and he was unable to see Mr. McCarthy. Mr. Carter stopped to render aid, and a second vehicle struck Mr. McCarthy. Mr. McCarthy was transported to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries. Mr. Carter was charged with a hanging obstruction from his rear view mirror. Charges are pending on Mr. McCarthy. The investigation is ongoing.

(Roanoke County, VA—April 8, 2020) On today’s date, 04/08/20, Roanoke County Officers were dispatched to the area of Electric Road and Ogden Road in reference to a report that a pedestrian had been struck by a vehicle. Officers arrived on scene and located the subject, who had been struck by 2 different vehicles. The victim was transported to the Hospital with serious injuries. This incident remains under investigation at this time.
