Three people were taken to the hospital after a Roanoke County Police officer and the driver of a Toyota Avalon collided at the intersection of Brambleton Ave. and Chatsworth Dr. shortly after 5:30 p.m. today. The two vehicles collided when the driver of the Toyota pulled out from Chatsworth Dr. and into the path of Officer J. P. Lynch who was traveling south on Brambleton Ave. toward Floyd. The investigation is ongoing and no charges have been filed at this time.

Officer Lynch was transported to the hospital and was released this evening. The driver of the Toyota and a passenger in the car were also taken to the hospital. Their names were not available. None of the injuries appeared to be life-threatening.

Officer Lynch was in a patrol car and was responding to a traffic accident on Bent Mountain at the time of the crash. The officer’s lights and sirens were not activated at the time of the collision.
