Our Path to Reopening

Many of you asked about our next steps for re-opening. While we don't yet have a specific reopening date, please know we are working toward this goal in a conscientious manner. Behind the scenes we are planning with Emergency Management to make sure we have implemented all safety protocols, and with General Services to make necessary appropriate adaptations to our buildings. The libraries will look different when you return. Please accept our apologies for the inconvenience as we figure all of this out. We appreciate your patience.

Curbside Information:

Follow the signs in our parking lots. Cones will be located in designated curbside parking spots.
We are mask friendly.
No fines will occur until the library reopens to the public.
Please allow seven days for materials to be removed from your account.
We will have bins outside of the library and are NOT yet using the book drops or drive-through windows. We are currently working on a redesign of the drive-throughs and hope to have them open again soon.
Please practice social distancing and stay 6’ from others when approaching the bins and holds pickup table.

Summer Reading Update

The community read over 15,000 books this summer. With the goal being met, the Friends of the Library, the sponsors of the Summer Reading Program, will be donating $1,000 to Feeding Southwest Virginia.

Thank you all or participating in our virtual summer reading program. We could not have done this without your help and support.

Prizes for all ages are available for pick up through August 31. If you have questions, please call your library.

Downtown Vinton Book Hunt

We've hidden posters around downtown Vinton with book covers on them. See if you can find them! Take a selfie and tag us on Instagram or Facebook to be entered to win a gift card to one of the participating locations. Good luck!

1,000 Books Before Kindergarten

Reading aloud to babies, toddlers, and preschoolers helps them develop important early literacy skills. RCPL is committed to supporting every child on their journey to reading. Plus, did you know that listening to our virtual storytimes count as titles read? Be sure to check out our YouTube channel for storytimes.

Fun for Teens
