Hotspots Available!

RCPL makes it easy to get online with a hotspot, available at all locations. If you are a library card holding resident of Roanoke County, you can check out a hotspot for free. Hotspots can be used to connect your tablet, laptop, or other WiFi enabled device to 4G LTE networks. RCPL hotspots can be borrowed for 28 days. Check one out here and come see us.

New Catalog Feature

Did you know that you can get curated emails sent to you with recommendations? Visit rvl.info and click on My Account. From there, click on Notification Preferences then the Area of Interest tab. Sign up for as many as you like. Categories include new fiction, graphic novels, romance, picture books, and more. Questions or need assistance? Come and see us or give us a call. All Roanoke County Public Library locations will be closed from 10am-12pm on Fri., April 14 for Staff Development. Visit rocolibrary.org to access the library 24/7.

Birding Backpacks

This pack includes birding materials, including National Geographic Birds of Eastern North America field guide, Vortex Crossfire 8x42 binoculars with case, straps, and lens cleaning cloth, Sibley's Backyard Birds of the Mid-Atlantic laminated foldout, as well as information about getting started in birding, how to use binoculars, local birding hotspots, birding apps, and other basic created by Roanoke Valley Bird Club members. Backpacks were donated in partnership with the Friends of the Library and Roanoke Valley Bird Club.

Read the Local Paper

Newsbank The Roanoke Times Collection allows you to read full-text articles on local news, issues, events, and people, as well as current and archived issues of Roanoke Times. Updated daily, it includes obituaries, editorials, announcements, and other sections. View full images of the daily paper from 2018 to today and access full-text articles from 1990 to the current issue. Create alerts for specific search criteria, read and listen to articles, and save the items to your account.
