1. What is CORTRAN?

CORTRAN is the shortened name of County Of Roanoke TRANsportation. CORTRAN was established in 1985 to provide transportation to County of Roanoke seniors and individuals with disabilities.

2. Who is CORTRAN for?

CORTRAN is available to preapproved, eligible County of Roanoke residents who are either at least 65 years old, or who have a disability.

3. Where can it take me?

CORTRAN can take you to and from destinations within the County of Roanoke, Town of Vinton, City of Salem, and City of Roanoke.

4. When does it run?

CORTRAN service is offered Monday through Friday, 7 a.m. - 6 p.m.

No service is offered on Saturday or Sunday or on the following holidays: New Year’s Day, Martin Luther King Jr. Day, Memorial Day, Juneteenth, July Fourth, Labor Day, Thanksgiving Day, Thanksgiving Friday, Christmas Eve, and Christmas Day.

The holiday schedule is subject to change on an annual basis. Please verify the current holiday schedule with Roanoke County.

5. How do I get started?

1. Complete the application.
2. Provide age and residency documentation for verification purposes.
3. If approved for CORTRAN services, you will receive a Client ID number. This number is to be used when making your reservation with Via or for purchasing ride credits.

6. How do I book my ride?

1. Download and log in to the CORTRAN mobile app from the App Store or Google Play store; 
2. Call Via directly at 1(855) 984-2328 to schedule, cancel or check on the status of your ride; 
3. Book online at: CORTRAN.app.ridewithvia.com

7. How do I pay for rides?

Payment is no longer accepted onboard but you can add ride credits to your account by:

• Using the CORTRAN app to link a credit/debit card or a pre-paid debit card; 
• Contacting the Roanoke County Treasurer’s Office to pay by cash or check; or
• Call Via at 1(855) 984-2328 to add ride credits.
• Riders should only purchase the amount of ride credits they will use in a reasonable amount of time. Ride credits cannot be redeemed for cash and are not transferable. No refunds will be issued for rider dissatisfaction of the service. Ride credits are non refundable after purchased.

8. What are the safety measures in place?

We have installed plastic partitions in our dedicated fleet of vehicles, increased the frequency of vehicle cleanings, and capped the number of passengers allowed on board in accordance with social distancing guidelines.
