Who mows county road medians?
In Roanoke County, the maintenance of medians has always been the responsibility of the Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT). Because of the budget shortfall, VDOT announced earlier this year that it would be cutting back on the frequency of its mowing. Because it takes special equipment to mow medians and roadsides, Roanoke County does not have the equipment necessary to perform this function. If you need further information or have any questions, please visit the
VDOT website.
