    From January 11th to March 5th, Roanoke County Public Library will participate in Beanstack’s Fourth Annual Winter Reading Challenge, sponsored by Simon & Schuster. Books Like Us is a celebration of diversity, harnessing the transformative power of seeing oneself reflected in a book. This Winter, participating communities are invited to explore these books, from authors spanning an array of diverse backgrounds. We challenge our patrons to read at least 2 books before March 5th and keep track of their reading on our Beanstack site at rocolibrary.beanstack.org.

    Want to spice up your reading life? Make a Blind Date with a Book during the month of February. Fill out the Book Match form and we will match you up with your next read. Will it be a dream or a dud? The library will notify you when your date is ready and you can pick it up curbside, at the drive thru or in the library. When you are done, fill out the Rate a Date form to be entered into a raffle to win a fun prize.

  1. VDOT Requests Virtual Public Input on I-81 Widening between Exits 137 and 141

    This event will be held virtually. To access the hearing information and WebEx, visit the project page at http://www.virginiadot.org/I81exit137to141 and click on the link for the virtual design public hearing.

    The Virginia Department of Transportation invites you to attend a virtual design public hearing for a project to widen 5.1 miles of Interstate 81 between exits 137 and 141 in Roanoke County and Salem. The hearing will be held on Tuesday, February 9, from 5 to 7 p.m. as a virtual event. Click on the link to learn more about the project, comment on the proposed project, and participate in the virtual public hearing on February 9th. VDOT representatives will make a presentation beginning at 5 p.m. and answer questions through the WebEx Chat function after the presentation is completed. A recorded version of the presentation will be available on the project page after the hearing.
