We are actively seeking safe, stable, and nurturing families who are interested in supporting other families in our community by providing temporary care for children in our custody. Families interested in learning more may connect with our staff by e-mail, making a profile on Family Match, or attending a Virtual Information Session offered the 1st Tuesday of each month at 6:30 PM.
Families interested in fostering may choose to begin the training and assessment process. This process helps everyone understand if fostering is a good fit for their families, and if so, what it should look like.
All prospective families participate in a pre-service training series while undergoing other aspects of the home study process. Roanoke County DSS is presently offering a hybrid virtual/self-paced training series, with one in-person session.
