Become a Foster Parent

We are actively seeking safe, stable and flexible families who are willing to help children find a safe place to call home.

All of our families are now being dually approved for foster care and adoption.

Training Class for Foster Families

All our local foster families complete the P.R.I.D.E. training class, a state certified curriculum. P.R.I.D.E. class consists of 30 hours of on-site training typically held on Thursdays with the exception of two longer Saturday sessions. We offer three seasonal classes during the year: spring, summer and fall.

Classes are held at Roanoke County Department of Social Services. After enrolling in our free P.R.I.D.E. course, requirements to become a foster parent will include, but are not limited to, three home visits, background checks, DMV records check, medical/physical exam, tuberculosis assessment, financial and budget information and various other forms. For more information contact us at 540-283-8850.

Local Families & Learn Their Stories

Our foster families are willing to share their stories and answer questions, as well as helping mentor potential foster families, and you can connect with them at our monthly Community Conversations.

Community Conversations occurs almost every month usually around the second Tuesday of each month and features one of our current foster families and a Question and Answer portion with either a foster parent recruiter or family services specialist. For more information about upcoming Community Conversations, email our Resource Recruiter.
