Any inmate has the right to a confidential visit with the following persons:
- Attorney
- Bondsmen
- Doctor
- Minister
- Priest
- Probation officer
- Psychiatrist
- Psychologist
- Rabbi
- Social worker
Special Visits
Special visits will be held in the visitation area where the visit will occur between the inmate and visitor(s) through the video visitation system. Such special visits will only be granted after an inmate:
- Has been sentenced on all pending charges and has been incarcerated in Roanoke County/Salem Jail facility for at least 30 days
- Has been incarcerated for 6 months
- Is awaiting transfer to a state facility
- Is being picked up by officers from out-of-state
Special visits, under certain conditions may be granted to inmates who receive visitors from out-of-town. Prior approval shall be obtained, if the inmate has knowledge of the forthcoming visit.
