Nick Shrewsbury was hired as a Combination Code Compliance Inspector – Stormwater and started on August 1.

Nick: “I grew up in Roanoke and graduated from Patrick Henry High School in 2001. I decided to go back to school in 2007 after taking some time off and trying my hand at different jobs. After graduating with a Master’s of Environmental Studies from VCU in 2014 I took a position with Henrico County, north of Richmond, as an Environmental Inspector. I was there for 2 years before I decided to look for work back home in Roanoke. Now that I’m back in the mountains, I typically spend a fair amount of my time hiking trails or frequenting the lake when the weather is right. I am excited for my new position and the prospect of working with everyone here at Roanoke County.”

Carter Younger was hired as a Civil Engineer I and started on August 1.

Carter: “This May I graduated from Virginia Tech with a degree in civil engineering and first took a position in Charlottesville. However, when I received this offer from Roanoke County I could not pass up the opportunity to work here. I grew up in Danville. In October 2017 I will be getting married to the love of my life. In my free time I enjoy hanging out with my fiancé, friends, and our two dogs (Australian Shepherd and Golden doodle). We always look for those moments that take our breath away like hiking to a spectacular view, singing at the top of our lungs at a concert or jumping to Enter Sandman at a Hokies home game. Go Hokies!”
