CORTRAN County of Roanoke Transportation Changes for 2022

Lots of exciting things are happening with the CORTRAN Program in 2022.

Recently two new Toyota Sienna long cut vans have been added to the CORTRAN fleet to allow for greater flexibility for larger mobility devices and adding more capacity for riders. This will allow for the needs of individuals that have larger mobility devices to be serviced by the program, while adding the potential for more riders to book a trip.

One of the suggestions from the Community Partners meeting in the Fall was an idea to check rider eligibility without calling the CORTRAN line. Roanoke County’s Geographic Information Systems (GIS) team worked to create a map for individuals to use on the CORTRAN website. This has added greater flexibility for individuals to see if their address is located in the CORTRAN service area. The CORTRAN Address Checker may be found at www.roanokecountyva.gov/CORTRAN.

Another tool CORTRAN is excited to share with the community is the recently produced video about the CORTRAN Program. Potential riders can learn valuable information about the program and see the branded CORTRAN vehicle that will pick them up. This video may be viewed at www.roankecountyva.gov/CORTRAN.

Via will introduce in the first quarter of 2022, advanced capability to schedule rides through website bookings, in addition to phone and CORTRAN App scheduling. This additional booking method will only increase the options riders will have to schedule a trip with Via.
