[ARCHIVED] Elvis and the Superstars Come to South County Library Oct 18

Dave Ehlert, the man with 1,000 voices, will present “Elvis and the Superstars” at two Roanoke County libraries in October. The first performance is at 8:00 p.m. on Friday, October 18 at South County Library, 6303 Merriman Road, Roanoke; the second performance will be at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, October 19 at the new Glenvar Branch Library, 3917 Daugherty Road, Salem.

Dave Ehlert began performing in 1967 as Elvis in what has become the longest running Elvis tribute show in the world. He has performed in 33 states, Mexico, and Canada as well as on a cruise ship in international waters. Since 1994, he has operated the first theater ever built in Branson, MO. There, he widened his act to include tributes to many other characters, including Tom Jones, Neil Diamond, Liberace, Willie Nelson, Conway Twitty, Johnny Cash, Roy Orbison, Nat King Cole, Ray Charles, Hank Williams, and many more.

In 2004, he was “drafted” into the role of Mark Twain when the scheduled performer was unable to make it. He had one week to gather all the Twain background he could find and then walked on stage in full character, cigar in hand. Ehlert played this character to the delight of his audience during last October’s Dead Authors Month at South County.

Tickets for “Elvis and the Superstars” are $3.00 each or two for $5.00 in advance and may be purchased at the either South County or Glenvar library starting September 9. Space is limited.
