[ARCHIVED] Contractor Appreciation Program Recognizes Fox Hunt Subdivision Project

(ROANOKE COUNTY, VA — March 2, 2018) Roanoke County’s Department of Community Development has selected the Fox Hunt Subdivision project, which is being constructed at 5661 Roselawn Road, to receive the Stormwater Clean Award.

As reported by Rhonda Ferris, the County’s Code Compliance Inspector for the Fox Hunt Subdivision project, this site has been particularly challenging in that it is adjacent to a jurisdictional waterway and has multiple seeps and springs. The developer, Roselawn Investments, LLC, their Responsible Land Disturber, Jason Trout, and the Contractor, Joe Bandy & Son, Inc., have not only met the program requirements but have been very responsive and also proactive in keeping the site in compliance with Virginia’s erosion and sediment control and stormwater management regulations.

Land development in Roanoke County presents difficult challenges in the management of stormwater runoff due to the very steep slopes and highly erodible soils in the region. Because of these challenges, Roanoke County created the Contractor Appreciation Program to recognize land-disturbing contractors who conduct exemplary work within the County to protect its natural water resources.

Roanoke County inspectors submit candidate projects to a selection committee who meet monthly to evaluate the projects for recognition. Selected projects are recognized with a permanent sign at the project site, as well as recognition in the department’s newsletter and on the County’s website.
