[ARCHIVED] Roanoke County Names Real Estate Valuation Director

March 12, 2019 – Roanoke County Administrator Daniel O’Donnell has announced the appointment of Kenneth Fay, RES, as Director of Real Estate Valuation.

“I’m pleased to welcome Ken to this position,” said O’Donnell. “Ken has a wealth of knowledge in real estate, assessments and appraisals, and will provide excellent leadership for the professional staff and ensure market values in the County are fair and equitable.”

Fay has served Roanoke County for five years as a Senior Appraiser.

"I am honored to be selected to serve Roanoke County as the next director of Real Estate Valuation,” said Fay. “I look forward to continuing work alongside department and county staff to provide the residents of Roanoke County with a fair and equitable tax roll."

Fay brings 30 years of experience in residential real estate, including 21 years as an appraiser. Prior to joining Roanoke County, Fay served as an Appraiser II for Palm Beach County, Florida. He also spent many years working as a private sector appraiser and held management positions.

Fay holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Management from Florida Atlantic University. He is a Certified Residential Appraiser and holds the designation of Residential Evaluation Specialist (RES) from the International Association of Assessing Officers (IAAO).

Fay follows Billy Driver who served more than 34 years as director until retiring in January.
Fay and his wife reside in Roanoke. Fay assumed his new position March 11.
