Roanoke County's Emergency Communications Department offers Text to 9-1-1. Call if you can, but text if you can't. It's a viable option for the hearing impaired, or for those in a situation where they are unable to talk. Text your location first, then a brief message about your situation. Don't send photos, videos, abbreviations, or emojis.
