[ARCHIVED] Police Respond to Social Media Post

CORRECTION: The juvenile is not enrolled in Roanoke County Public Schools.

(Roanoke County, VA—December 9, 2023) Roanoke County Police was notified Friday evening by a Cave Spring Middle School employee about a disturbing social media post involving a gun. After investigating, police determined the origin of the post and took a male juvenile into custody. Subsequently, he was taken to a juvenile detention center. Charges are pending.

Out of an abundance of caution, the school decided to cancel all Saturday activities.

This is an ongoing police investigation and there is nothing further to release at this time.
