[ARCHIVED] Crash Involving Pedestrian or Cyclist

On Tuesday February 27, 2024, a 2016 Kenworth tractor trailer was traveling southbound on Franklin Rd in Roanoke County. Just after 10:00pm, the truck struck a pedestrian who was walking in the right southbound travel lane, near the Clearbrook Wal-Mart. The pedestrian, Amanda Graninger, was pronounced deceased on scene. The driver of the truck was wearing a seatbelt and was not injured. Alcohol and drugs may have played a role in the crash. Weather and speed are not believed to be factors in the crash. The road was closed for a period of time but has reopened. This is an ongoing investigation.
