[ARCHIVED] Update - Sidetrack Road Homicide Arrests

(Update October 9, 2025) On Friday, October 3 a Roanoke County Grand Jury returned with indictments against two individuals for the January murder of Michael Henritze.

Damion Tyler Ray King, 19, of Roanoke, was charged with:
▪ 18.2-32 Murder: 2nd degree
▪ 18.2-58 Robbery with a death
▪ 18.2-53.1 Use of a firearm in commission of a felony

James Dustin King, 37, of Roanoke, was charged with:
▪ 18.2-32 Murder: 2nd degree
▪ 18.2-58 Robbery with a death
▪ 18.2-53.1 Use of a firearm in commission of a felony
▪ 18.2-308.2 Nonviolent felon in possession of a firearm

Both subjects are currently in custody.

This case is still actively under investigation and anyone with information is asked to call the Criminal Investigations Division at (540) 777-8641.

(Update January 9, 2025) Police identified the deceased male as Michael Henritze Jr, 35, of Roanoke County. Mr. Henritze’s family has been notified of his passing. Mr. Henritze’s death is being investigated as a homicide. No arrests have been made at this time. Anyone with information is asked to reach out to Roanoke County Detectives at 540-777-8641.

(January 7, 2025) Roanoke County police was notified of a shooting in the 4800 block of Sidetrack Road (Bonsack area) at 5:30 a.m. Officers found a male deceased with apparent gunshot wounds inside the home. There is no danger to the public. This is an active investigation.
