[ARCHIVED] Fire & Rescue answering dozens of calls

The calls that we have received include downed trees and power lines, fire alarms and other assorted calls. The fire alarms have occurred as a result of the power outages. Additonally, there is a small brush fire off of Catawba Valley Drive that crews are not able to fight at this time because of a live downed power line that is believed to have sparked the blaze. The 9-1-1 center has been inundated with calls. We are kindly asking citizens to only call 9-1-1 if they are having or reporting an emergency.
