ROANOKE COUNTY, VA (February 14, 2013) – Roanoke County Fire & Rescue crews responded the 7600 block of Marsons Road yesterday at about 12 noon.
When firefighters first arrived they reported flames coming from the front of the house. A car was in the drive-way so they conducted an interior search of the single story house and determined no one was inside. The house had been made into three apartments and the occupant of the lower level apartment called 9-1-1 to report the fire.
It took fire crews from the Hollins, North County and Fort Lewis stations about 30 minutes to get the flames under control. The fire was contained to one side of the house where there is now heavy fire, smoke and water damage. The other two apartments have some smoke and water damage.
No injuries were reported.
Investigators say the damage estimates have reached $100,000. Investigators are still not able to determine exactly what caused the fire to spark.
Three families have been displaced and Red Cross is assisting the families.
