[ARCHIVED] TRAFFIC ALERT: RIVERLAND ROAD ROUNDABOUT IN ROANOKE WILL OPEN TO TRAFFIC THURSDAY NIGHT

SALEM – Weather permitting, the roundabout at the intersection of Riverland Road/Mount Pleasant Boulevard and Bennington Street in the City of Roanoke will be open to traffic overnight Wednesday, April 17.

The temporary three-way stop and detour through the shopping center will be removed. Drivers are encouraged to use caution as they approach the area and to be alert for changing traffic patterns.

Additionally, flaggers will be in place to direct traffic beginning at 8 p.m. for line marking operations until the roundabout is open.

The purpose of this project is to improve the intersection of Riverland Road/Mount Pleasant Boulevard and Bennington Street by replacing the intersection with a roundabout. The cost of this project is approximately $8.4 million.

The project will be complete in July 2013.
