[ARCHIVED] $12.7 Million on Contracts Awarded for Roadwork in the Salem District

SALEM — In April, the Commonwealth Transportation Board (CTB) and the Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) awarded seven contracts totaling approximately $12.7 million for roadwork in the Salem District.

At their April 17 meeting in Richmond, the CTB awarded a $5.4 million contract for paving along portions of the interstates located in Carroll, Roanoke and Montgomery counties totaling 8.5 miles. The contract was awarded to Adams Construction Co. of Roanoke.

Additionally, six contracts that include various bridge replacements and repairs and culvert repairs throughout the district were awarded by VDOT on April 24. The total value of the contracts is approximately $7.3 million.

In Giles County, a contract for repairs to the Route 460 bridge over the New River valued at $566,250 was awarded to DW Miller Construction Company of Chiefland, Fla. The bridge is located 2.5 miles west of Pembroke.

In Vinton, a $1,847,870 contract to replace the Walnut Avenue bridge over Glade Creek was awarded to Burleigh Construction Co. Inc. of Concord.

A contract for various culvert repairs and replacements and bridge rehabilitation throughout the district was awarded to D.A. Brown Inc. of Vinton. The contract is valued at $2.1 million. A second contract for culvert repairs and replacements in Salem District in the amount of $2,799,315 was awarded to DLB Inc. of Hillsville.

The Salem District includes the counties of Bedford, Botetourt, Carroll, Craig, Floyd, Franklin, Giles, Henry, Montgomery, Patrick, Pulaski and Roanoke.
