Traffic Alert: More Blasting Scheduled Tomorrow On Route 221 Widening Project In Roanoke County

SALEM – Additional blasting is scheduled on the Route 221 construction project in Roanoke County this week. The contractor tentatively plans to detonate another charge, Thursday, May 5, around mid-day near Route 221’s intersection with Route 745 (Ran Lynn Drive).

Every effort will be made to minimize traffic disruptions and perform any blasting outside peak traffic times. However, traffic in the vicinity of each blast will have to be stopped for several minutes on Route 221, along adjacent roadways and at private entrances.

Signs and message boards will be in place to alert drivers to these traffic delays. Drivers should watch for flaggers and expect short-term delays.
