[ARCHIVED] Traffic Alert: Closure Scheduled for Route 904 (Starkey Road) in Roanoke County for Bridge Work

SALEM – As part of the ongoing work to replace the Route 904 (Starkey Road) bridge over a branch of Back Creek, the road will be closed near its intersection with Route 679 (Buck Mountain Road) beginning Monday, August 5.

Detour signs will be posted. Drivers can access Starkey Road at its intersection with Route 419 (Electric Road).

Weather permitting, the detour will be in place until Wednesday, August 14. Lane closures will continue to be in place from 9.a.m. until 4:30 p.m. and from 9 p.m. until 6 a.m. throughout the remainder of the project. The bridge replacement will be complete in September.

Members of the community are invited to attend a public information meeting hosted by Roanoke County on Thursday, July 25, at 7 p.m. at the Southwest County Library, 6303 Merriman Road in Roanoke. VDOT and county representative will be available to answer questions concerning the detour.

Message boards will be in place beginning Monday, July 22, notifying drivers of the closure.
