August 14, 2013 – At its August 13 meeting, the Board of Supervisors considered revisions to the Solid Waste Ordinance that would regulate the trade of secondhand building materials as “scrap” in Roanoke County. This change, which requires a permit for buying or selling scrap secondhand building materials, is mandated by Virginia State Law, effective July 1.
After a review of the ordinance requirements, the Board of Supervisors approved the first reading of the changes, and scheduled a second reading and public hearing on the matter at the Tuesday, September 10, Board of Supervisors meeting.
After receiving public comment at the hearing, the Board of Supervisors will vote on the proposed ordinance changes.
Citizens who wish to speak at the public hearing can sign up online to Address the Board of Supervisors or contact the Clerk to the Board at (540) 772-2003.
