Roanoke County is hosting a community meeting about the future of Explore Park on Thursday, September 19 at 6:00 P.M. at the Blue Ridge Parkway Visitors Center (Milepost 115). We're seeking community feedback about potential amenities and activities at Explore Park, should the Board of Supervisors adopt a 99-year lease agreement with the Virginia Recreational Facilities Authority later this month to operate the property.
At this meeting, Roanoke County staff and officials will be on hand to discuss the proposed agreement and accept input from interested citizens, stakeholders, neighbors, volunteers and businesses. We'll use these ideas to create a master plan for the property, with the long term goal of creating a regional outdoor attraction. An online form has been created online at www.RoanokeCountyVA.gov/Explore for anyone who is unable to attend the meeting and wishes to make comments about the future of Explore Park.
