[ARCHIVED] Officers Recognized by Roanoke County Police Department

Congratulations to Officers of the Roanoke County Police Department as they were recognized by Chief Howard Hall on Wednesday, September 25, 2013.

Officers E. Austin and C. Jacobs were awarded The Lifesaving Award medal for their rescue efforts.
In July, while vacationing at the beach with family, Officer E. Austin along with a Roanoke County Firefighter rescued a woman and her son who were caught in the rip current. The two jumped in to save them without even thinking of their own safety.

Earlier this month, Officer C. Jacobs responded to an apartment fire in Roanoke County. She and EMS responders arrived before fire apparatus. They quickly determined victims were still in the residence and went in to pull the victims to safety.

Officers A. Gennosa, C. Gunter and R. Murphy were giving a Commendation by Chief Hall for their excellent work.

In July, the officers responded to a suspicious person call in south Roanoke County. Officer recognized the description of the person as matching that of a burglary suspect. Officers quickly located the subject. Through their investigative skills, they were able to obtain a confession from the suspect and recover a quantity of prescription drugs.
