[ARCHIVED] Public Invited to Share Ideas and Input on Future Road, Rail, and Transit Projects

SALEM - The Commonwealth Transportation Board (CTB) is holding a public meeting in Roanoke this week so residents can learn more about transportation projects funded in the current Six-Year Improvement Program (SYIP) and to provide comments for transportation improvements in the upcoming SYIP for fiscal years 2015-2020.

The meeting will begin at 6 p.m., Wednesday, Oct. 30, at Northside High School, located at 6758 Northside High School Road in Roanoke.

Open house displays and general discussion will occur from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. and the public comment session will begin at 7 p.m.

Projects include interstate, road, rail, bicycle, pedestrian and public transportation initiatives. They emphasize bridge and pavement projects along with those to improve safety and reduce congestion throughout the transportation network.

Representatives from the CTB, VDOT, Virginia Department of Rail and Public Transportation (DRPT), metropolitan planning organizations (MPOs) and planning district commissions (PDCs) will be at the meetings to discuss their respective projects and programs.
