Roanoke County Police were called to the 6200 Block of West Main Street in Roanoke County to investigate a subject lying in the road. When Officers arrived they found a white female in the road with severe injuries. The victim was transported to a local hospital where she was pronounced dead. The victim has been identified as 31-year-old Tara E. Farley of Elliston, VA. An autopsy was performed today. The official Medical Examiner's report is not complete, but Ms. Farley's injuries do appear consistent with having been struck by a motor vehicle. Investigators are continuing to try to piece together Ms. Farley's whereabouts and actions prior to her death. No charges or arrests have been made. At this point, police do not know who struck the victim. Police are asking anyone who may been traveling in this area between the hours of 8:00 p.m. and 10:30 p.m. last night to contact them if they saw ANYTHING. They are also asking that anyone who may have thought they struck something in the road, such as debris or an animal, in this area last night to contact them. Based on information from the weather service, police are aware that it was foggy and visibility was poor in this location.
