[ARCHIVED] Fifth Storm Water Advisory Meeting Set for December 12

(ROANOKE COUNTY, Va.) December 9, 2013 – On December 12, Roanoke County will host the fifth of seven stormwater advisory committee meetings to help determine the County's direction in complying with looming state and federal mandates. The meeting will be held at the South County Library, 6303 Merriman Road, Roanoke from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM.

Roanoke County’s Stormwater Advisory Committee (SWAC) is comprised of community stakeholders that represent the interests of residents, businesses and non-profit organizations across Roanoke County and the Town of Vinton.

Additional Stormwater Advisory Committee meetings have been scheduled for Thursday, January 9 and Thursday, February 6.

Meeting dates, times and locations have been posted to the Roanoke County website’s County Calendar, and interested citizens can subscribe to receive email reminders in advance of each meeting at the bottom of our Notify Me service page at www.roanokecountyva.gov/list.aspx.

The committee has been charged with bringing recommendations to the Board of Supervisors in 2014. These recommendations will include stormwater management priorities; appropriate and affordable levels of service; level of interest in public participation in stormwater management program activities; preliminary needs assessments; preliminary regulations and policies; and preliminary financial requirements along with funding mechanisms.
