(Roanoke County, VA) – On February 7, 2014, at approximately 3:18 PM Roanoke County Police received a to responded to a bank robbery at the Valley Bank branch located off Challenger Avenue adjacent to the Bonsack Kroger store. The suspect fled the bank on foot with an undisclosed amount of money and was seen entering the Kroger Grocery store nearby. The store was closed to search for the suspect, who was later located and arrested. The store continued to remain closed while the investigation continued that evening.
Glenn W. Ruff, 59, of Roanoke was arrested and charged with robbery, being armed with a deadly weapon while entering a banking institution, and possession of a concealed weapon after being convicted of a felony. Ruff is currently being held at the Roanoke County/Salem Jail without bond.
