URGENT: Abandoned Vehicles in Travel Lanes Will Be Towed to Allow for Snow Plowing

ROANOKE COUNTY, VA (February 14, 2014) – The Roanoke County Police Department is currently assisting the Virginia Department of Transportation with contacting drivers who have abandoned their vehicles due to the inclement weather.

Police are requesting that owners retrieve their vehicles immediately. Vehicles that are left blocking the travel lanes in roadways will be towed at the owner's expense.

Vehicles outside the travel lanes will not be towed, but could be buried under snow as the VDOT plows work to removed snow from the roadways.

Residents who may have left their vehicles in the roadways as a result of the recent storm should move their vehicles immediately or contact Roanoke County Police’s non-emergency number at (540) 562-3265.
