SALEM – Starting next week, drilling operations to make test borings on the bridge over Tinker Creek are expected to impact traffic during nighttime hours on Route 11 (Lee Highway) in Botetourt County. The bridge is located near Hollins just north of Route 11’s intersection with Route 838 (Vista Drive).
Work is tentatively scheduled on Tuesday, March 11 and Wednesday, March 12. Additional nights may be scheduled if needed to complete the drilling on Thursday, March 13, or Tuesday through Thursday, the following week.
During the drilling operations, flaggers will control traffic on Route 11 each night from 7 p.m. until 6 a.m. the following morning. Drivers should use caution and expect delays.
The test borings are needed to develop plans for a future bridge replacement.
These dates are tentative and could be adjusted depending on weather and work schedule.
