[ARCHIVED] Evening Commuters Should Watch for Icy Spots, Particularly on Bridges and Overpasses

SALEM – Crews with the Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) continue to monitor road conditions throughout the 12-county Salem District.

Most roads in our area are clear or in minor condition which means they have isolated slick/icy areas. Drivers should use caution on bridges and overpasses and other cooler spots, especially in the higher elevations.

Conditions could change as colder temperatures may cause refreezing overnight. Drivers are encouraged to monitor weather and road conditions before traveling.

Traffic and road condition information can be obtained by dialing 511 or visiting 511Virginia.org.

The Salem District includes the counties of Bedford, Botetourt, Carroll, Craig, Floyd, Franklin, Giles, Henry, Montgomery, Patrick, Pulaski and Roanoke.
