[ARCHIVED] TONIGHT! Social Media and Teens Workshop at Northside Middle School

All parents and students are welcome and encouraged to attend this FREE event!

Social media opens up a new world of engagement for today's youth, but it also opens the door to many risks. Can you spot the signs for cyberbullying, online sexual abuse, pornography, and even risk of physical dangers?

Learn more about these risks and take away tips on how to stay safe on Facebook, Snapchat, Instagram, Twitter and other social media networks!

The Roanoke County Police Department regularly presents crime prevention information to the community. A focus this year is on programs designed for parents and children. Every year, hundreds of children fall prey to crimes that originate with social media. This workshop can save a child’s life.

The workshop schedule is:
6:00 PM - 7:00 PM Resource fair for children, teens, and parents, as well as police vehicle displays, bike officers and K-9's.

7:00 PM - 8:00 PM Discussion geared for students and what could happen to them and how to be safer while using the various social media.

8:00 PM - 9:00 PM Discussion for parents and adults about warning signs and ways they can keep their children safe.

Sponsored by Roanoke County Police, Bedford Sheriff's Department and Northside Middle School. For more information, contact Community Policing Coordinator Rick Crosier at (540) 777-8651.
