Roanoke County Police are again reminding people to lock their car doors. The department has received reports over the last month of approximately 40 thefts from unlocked vehicles. Thursday evening, alone, ten unlocked vehicles in the Castle Rock neighborhood were broken into.
Items taken have been wallets, purses, DVD players, GPS devices, headphones, and a firearm.
The break-ins can be easily prevented by removing or hiding valuable items and locking the doors.
Vehicle break-ins have occurred on Brandywine Avenue, Bunker Hill Drive, Charing Cross Drive, Piccadilly Lane, Parham Road, Woodway Road, Ridge Road, Penn Forest Boulevard, Kenwick Trail, Woodview Drive, and Verona Trail.
Thursday evening’s break-ins occurred on Hereford Road, Brahma Road, Galloway Drive, Castle Rock Road, and Green Meadow Road.
Residents are asked to be alert of suspicious activities and report them immediately to 9-1-1.
County Police are continuing their investigation. Anyone with information is asked to call the Criminal Investigations Division at 777-8641.
