[ARCHIVED] VDOT Public Hearing for Interstate 81 Park and Ride Expansion at Exit 140

SALEM —The Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) will hold a public hearing on the proposed expansion of the Park and Ride facility located off Interstate 81 at exit 140 (Salem) in Roanoke County.

The existing Park and Ride lot, which has approximately 112 parking spaces, would be expanded to provide approximately 236 vehicle spaces and nine for motorcycles. Other amenities included in the proposed project are additional lighting, bike racks, handicap parking, sidewalks and a bus shelter.

The hearing will be held on Thursday, Oct. 16, from 5 to 7 p.m. at VDOT’s Salem District Office located at 731 Harrison Avenue in Salem.

This hearing is being held to provide an opportunity for citizens or organizations to give VDOT input on the proposed project. The hearing will be held in an open-house format with no formal presentation given. VDOT representatives will be present to discuss the proposed project and to answer questions.

Comments about the project may be submitted at the hearing or until October 26 by mailing them to Mr. John Bisnett, Project Manager, Virginia Department of Transportation, P.O. Box 3071, Salem, VA 24153. Comments also can be emailed to saleminfo@vdot.virginia.gov. Please reference “I-81 Exit 140 Park & Ride Facility Expansion” in the subject heading.
