[ARCHIVED] VDOT to Hold a Public Meeting On Interstate 81's Exit 150's Improvement Project

SALEM —The Virginia Department of Transportation in coordination with Botetourt County will hold a public information meeting to discuss construction impacts of the upcoming project to improve traffic flow and safety at Interstate 81’s exit 150 (Troutville).

The meeting will be held on Thursday, November 20 at Lord Botetourt High School from 5 to 7 p.m. A formal presentation about the project will be given at 5:15 p.m. and 6:15 p.m., and VDOT representatives will be present to answer questions about the project in an open house format throughout the evening.

The project is expected to be advertised for construction bids in December 2014 with construction beginning sometime in spring 2015. The meeting is being held so VDOT representatives can provide information about construction phasing, traffic impacts and business accessibility during the three-year project.

The operational improvements at exit 150 will include relocating the on-ramp from northbound Route 220 onto northbound I-81 to a new location, constructing a roundabout at the exit 150B/Route 11 intersection, installing a raised median on Route 11 and building a new road to extend from Route 11 to Route 220 Alternate.

Information about the project can be found on VDOT’s website at http://www.virginiadot.org/I81Exit150project.
