[ARCHIVED] Roanoke County Sheriff Names Chief Deputy

Assistant Police Chief Mike Warner

(ROANOKE COUNTY, VA) November 13, 2014 -— Roanoke County Sheriff Charles I. Poff, Jr. has announced the appointment of Mike Warner to the position of chief deputy sheriff. Warner is currently serving as assistant chief for the Roanoke County Police Department. He will transfer into his new position with the sheriff’s office on December 1, 2014. Warner will serve as second in command of the sheriff’s office.

“Mike has a wealth of experience in law enforcement and Roanoke County,” Poff said. “I know he will be a true asset to help further the goals of the sheriff’s office.”

Warner has served the citizens of Roanoke County for 33 years. His career began in 1981 as a deputy sheriff with the Roanoke County Sheriff’s Department. Since this time, he has served in many roles for both departments including Corrections/Deputy Sheriff, Paramedic/Deputy Sheriff, Patrol Officer, Detective, Special Operations, Sergeant, Lieutenant and Assistant Chief. Warner currently oversees the administrative division of the Roanoke County Police Department.

Warner will fill the position left vacant after Poff was named sheriff in October.
