[ARCHIVED] Winter Weather Numbers You Should Know

red ball

Winter is coming, and while the Roanoke Valley may or may not see significant snowfall this weekend, here are a few numbers and websites you should have on hand this season.

Questions about road conditions should be addressed to VDOT at 1 (800) 367-7623. Residents can also submit an online work order for snow removal directly to VDOT at http://www.virginiadot.org/travel/citizen.asp.

VDOT is responsible for removing snow from Roanoke County's streets and roads. Citizens with concerns are asked to call VDOT at 1 (800)-FOR-ROAD, (800-367-7623), for the latest status on snow removal and road maintenance.

During this holiday weekend, travelers should also check local road conditions with VDOT by calling 5-1-1 or see the latest updates at http://www.virginiadot.org.

For power outages, contact AEP at 1 (800) 956-4237.

Water outages should be reported to the Western Virginia Water Authority at (540) 853-5700, 24 hours a day, or email info@westernvawater.org.

As always, calls to Roanoke County's 9-1-1 center should be reserved for emergency situations only.
