SALEM – Several nighttime lane closures for Interstate 581 and Hershberger Road are planned for next week as the Interstate 581 Valley View interchange project in Roanoke continues.
Blasting - On Monday January 26, Interstate 581 northbound at Valley View Boulevard east and west will have slow roll lane closures at exit 3C, I-581 NB for Valley View east and along Valley View west for blasting during daytime hours at approximately 3 p.m., weather permitting.
Nightly Lane Closures - Beginning on Monday night, January 26, through Friday morning, January 30, dual lane closures will be in effect on northbound and southbound I-581 throughout the week.
On Monday, January 26 and Wednesday, January 28, the right lane of northbound I-581 will close at 8 p.m. and the center lane will close at 10 p.m. Both lanes will re-open at 6 a.m. the following morning.
On Tuesday, January 27 and Thursday, January 29, the left lane of northbound I-581 will close at 8 p.m. and the center lane will close at 10 p.m. Both lanes will re-open at 6 a.m. the following morning.
Slow Rolls - Intermediate 15 minute slow roll lane closures will take place on northbound I-581 on Monday, January 26 and Wednesday, January 28 from 12 a.m. until 4 a.m. and on southbound I-581 on Tuesday, January 27 and Thursday, January 29 the following morning. During a slow roll, law enforcement will slow and possibly stop traffic as the equipment is being moved. Each slow roll is anticipated to last approximately 15 minutes.
This work is weather and work schedule permitting. Drivers are encouraged to watch for signs and message boards and to use caution as they travel through the work zones. Motorists should expect delays.
